TDOV 2021
Welcome to our Trans Day of Visibility art gallery! We wanted to host this virtual gallery to highlight the work of amazing trans artists at the University of Minnesota. Art is one way that our community connects, with everything online its more important than ever for our community to be visible.
So, let's celebrate art and our trans community!
We thank the artists and collaborators who made this possible and hope that it can serve as once piece of a larger movement of trans visibility, resilience, and justice.
View the works below or as a PDF zine. The second version is re-ordered for printing at home!

Art has always been a passion of mine. It is something that has always been consistent in my life even though the content of it is always changing. Some of my proudest pieces are my oil paintings, which I worked on during my transition. They don't have anything to do with being trans, but they remind me of the places I've been and the wonderful feelings that I felt despite the difficulty of socially and medically transitioning.

Wren Friedrich | name only or they
Hey I'm Wren! I like exploring the relationship between my physical body and the world around me. I'm interested in the similarities (and differences) between presentation of self in art and presentation of self in life. I also have a cat named Juliet and I think she's neat.

I currently am a freshman at the University of Minnesota pursuing a degree in Biomedical Engineering. I came out as FtM transgender halfway through high school, and have recently started identifying as transmasculine and gender non-conforming. Between intense dysphoria and isolation before coming out, and bullying and harassment after, I struggled with anxiety and depression through most of high school. As I began to heal, quarantine started, leading to fluctuations in my mental health. In order to combat these fluctuations, I started experimenting with resin art and the focus, planning, and uncertainty that came with this creation helped me to feel more confident and comfortable in myself. I am very glad for this opportunity to share my story and art, and if you would like to see more, follow @evantylerarts on instagram!

I am a fourth-year non-binary individual from the suburbs of Minnesota pursuing the arts with a minor in design! I hope to become an illustrator in the future and my art is highly inspired by abstracted artstyles from Japanese animation! I tend to view my own art as a collection of personal illustrations with original characters who take part in surrealist-fantasy narratives. Feel free to reach me out on instagram at @croviidae !

Hi, my name is Jason! I'm a recently transferred art major at the U, and I specialize in both ceramic and illustrative artwork. A lot of my artwork, in some way or another, has been informed by my experiences as a trans man. I've recently been focusing on the lived human experience, as well as the relationship between the mind and human body.

I am primarily a traditional and digital artist. I focus heavily on drawing with some work in animation. If I’m not drawing, you can oftentimes find me crocheting or knitting! I love creating art and it brings me joy to share my thoughts with the world.
