our mission statement
The Queer Student Cultural Center (QSCC) aims to celebrate the diversity and culture of the queer community; educate the University of Minnesota community on issues pertinent to the lives of queer students; advocate for inclusion and equality of all individuals regardless of gender identity and sexual/romantic orientation; provide a safe space for queer students to meet and form a sense of community; and empower queer individuals, groups, and organizations.
Our board meets every few weeks. All general members are welcome to attend board meetings to voice more direct input in our planning and to hear about what's going on with the organization. Meetings are held in our Discord server, and we welcome feedback on the decisions and direction of the QSCC.
our space
During a typical semester, the amenities we offer students include:
- A physical safe space that gives everyone the opportunity to be open about their sexuality and/or gender identity without fear of judgement or being outed (CMU 217).
- Information about community events and opportunities, safer-sex (including supplies), job and internship opportunities, UMN's GLBT minor, and mental health resources.
- Free internet and printing, as well as an expansive library of books, magazines, and movies. Students can read in the space or rent out items!
- A collection of board games, video games, art supplies, and more that are free for community use!
- Weekly LGBTQIA+ identity groups. To see a full list of groups as well as the current semester schedule, visit our Groups page!
Our Constitution
The QSCC as a group aims to uphold our QSCC Constitution and Bylaws as well as our Safer Space Policies in our CMU space, at QSCC events, and on our online platforms.
